The fighting dogs, abandoned by their owners, are attacking people and animals in the outer houses of the Kocherinovo village of Dragodan, locals said.
Retired widow Temenuzka Stoyanova is among the most seriously injured after dogs broke into the yard and crushed all her animals: three ducks and six hens. Only one black hen survived, adds Violet.
“Our dog was barking loudly, I went out to the terrace and saw a bloodbath in the courtyard. Two huge dogs were killing everything that got in their way, cats were running around in panic… I thought they were about to leave , but they remained as if they were waiting to kill more.
Good thing I wasn’t down there, they probably would have chopped me up too. I ran, stick in hand, to neighbors Blanka and Michal and Snezhana Kyurcchiyska for help. The killer dogs chased me, but I had already reached the screaming neighbors, that must have scared them and they didn’t dare to attack me,” an enthusiastic Temenuzka told struma.bg.
The mayor of Dragodan and Borovets, Velko Hristov, who was on operational duty with the municipal mayor of Kocherinovo, Ivan Minkov, immediately arrived at the scene of the accident, and a police patrol also arrived. They made an inspection and took photos, questioned the victim and the neighbors.
Georgi Dzhikov, a native of Dragoda, expressed his guess as to where the dogs came from: “The dogs probably came from Boboshevo, two huge, well-fed dogs, one black and white, the other brown.
There is a whole pack in Boboshevsko, they probably got scared and ran away from the motocross bikes. These two dogs also attacked our neighbor Valentin’s yard this summer, but we all went after them and barely rescued the animals. It must have been two days in the meadows under the houses, because all the dogs in the neighborhood were barking loudly in that direction. I hope no one gets hurt, we don’t dare go down and check.
In the summer, Temenuzka Stoyanova’s rooster also drowned,” Georgi recalls. Neighbor Blanka also joined the conversation: “The dogs remembered the yard with the animals and came to kill them,” she speculated.

Kocherinovo dog hunter Georgi Tsenov is ready to assist in their capture. He said: “It’s possible these are old fighting dogs that have been let go, they don’t need them anymore. Or someone looked at them, got scared and decided to get rid of them. They could be pit bulls. They are fighting guard dogs , they are not shepherds, because those who look after the livestock do not attack domestic animals, they are used to it.
Kocherinovo and Boboshevo communes need to take serious measures until they cut a person to pieces, because they are taught combat commands, and they will not obey ordinary ones. They are trained to attack, not retreat,” Tsenov explains.
Kocherinovo municipality neighborhood police officer Dimitar Arnaudov is expected to join the search for the dogs on Wednesday. A similar incident occurred yesterday in the ‘Gyurgevo’ neighborhood of Sapareva Banya municipality, where two dogs that escaped from a security facility entered a house and tore apart domestic cats. The dog’s owner picked them up quickly.
Neighborhood resident Dimitar Arnaudov was categorical: “The search for dogs will continue until we find them, people’s lives cannot be in danger!”
