A Chicago, US woman found her sister’s missing ashes in the back of a U-Haul truck, CBS reported.
The Rodriguez family was unaware of the disappearance of the ashes.
Laura Rodriguez, the youngest of Maria Gaude’s 11 siblings, died in December 2021 from cancer.
After her death, the family gave Laura’s ashes to her boyfriend, who had cared for her during her battle with illness.
Maria said her sister’s ashes ended up in the back of a U-Haul truck. She still does not understand why the ashes were found there.
“I was shocked and hurt. I couldn’t believe it,” she testified.
Maria Gaude hopes one day to hear from the man to whom the family entrusted Laura’s ashes.
According to U-Haul employees, Laura’s boyfriend came Friday to pick up the ashes. However, since he was in a state of distress, he reportedly became unwell and ended up in hospital.
