Three years ago, while the National Statistics Bureau’s on-site investigation suffered a terrible car accident, an employee with a 12-year-old boy suffered severe head trauma and is still in hospital.
However, the status of this employee is not a public official, but a kind of “public official”, which is a kind of permanent contract.

On board the vehicle were four employees of the National Statistical Office who went to the field to investigate rice production.
Kim Kyung-mi, a statistical researcher, is one of them.
Kim suffered a severe head injury and has undergone four surgeries and is still in bed.

“It’s been 3 years since the accident and I’m still breathing. I’m not aware of it and I can’t move anything. A caregiver came and stayed with me for 24 hours …”
The question is what to do after the accident.
Since Mr. Kim is a civil servant, he receives only 70% of the average of his three months’ salary and his leave is guaranteed for up to three years.
It is different from civil servants who are paid 100% of their salary and can take a 5-year leave.
At least 100% of the salary was received from last year through an employment contract, but the holiday guarantee is still 3 years.
At this rate, even after taking 8 months of sick leave, Mr. Kim will end his leave in June next year and will be subject to retirement.

“I work for the country and am doing the same thing as a civil servant, but I feel bad because there are so many differences.
Last August there were 883 public officials in charge of on-site investigations at the National Statistical Office and 1,037 public service statistical investigators.
Civil servants and civil servants do practically the same field work, and if they are injured, the treatment is different.

The National Statistical Office said: “The difference is due to the extension of the leave guarantee for public officials to five years due to last year’s revision of the law.
