I was a prisoner in my own body

The 47-year-old Swede suffered a stroke in September 2018, which completely changed his life. In an interview with Expressen, Elofsson admitted that his body was partially paralyzed.

“Everything was strange because I was used to using my body as a tool. And suddenly I was a prisoner in my own body,” said Elofsson, who was paralyzed on the right side of his body.

In recent years, the Swedish skiing legend focused on rehabilitation, and last year he was able to put on roller skis and go for sports. “It was a big milestone,” said the former elite athlete.

Since last summer, Elofsson has been able to train normally and regain full control of his body. All this has allowed him to return to work, and in this sense Elofsson has accepted a new challenge.

Tired of sitting at the computer, the Swede started working at the Umeå airport.

“I wanted to do something more practical. I work at the airport, where I keep an eye on what’s going on during security checks, reload suitcases and help people with boarding,” Elofsson described his current occupation.

Elofsson won three world championship titles in cross-country skiing during his career. He has a bronze medal at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics.
