Former Slovak football representative Adam Nemec continues his career in Romania. However, Dinama Bucharest is no longer a player for whom he played thirty league matches in the previous season and scored four goals, but signed to rival FC Voluntari.
The 35-year-old shapely striker for readers of the daily Šport talked about how this move was born, but also about the half-time debut in a new jersey or about Slovakia’s performance at the recent Euro 2020.

Why did you decide to change the club address?
“I was fired at Dinamo because the club went into insolvency. There was an effort to optimize costs, contracts were terminated with several footballers and I was one of them. I became a free agent and decided to go to Voluntari. ”
When did this happen?
“I was fired on July 9th. The following Monday I was already training with the new club. However, I waited longer for the paperwork. Everything was resolved last Friday, so I was able to join Voluntari for the first time on Saturday. ”
Doesn’t the events in Dinam Bucharest remind you of the situation in MŠK Žilina from March in March, when the club from below Dubň went into liquidation and up to fifteen players ended up in the A-team?
“It simply came to our notice then. It’s definitely not okay. This is Dinamo’s second insolvency, which also tricked FIFA into banning it from registering transfers. The club fired the contracted players because it allegedly could not pay them, but wanted others whom it could already pay? It’s not serious.
In Romania, laws allow insolvency every five years, which in practice means, for example, the possibility of reducing debt from ten million to two million. In addition, I have been without pay since January. I actually played for free and the club owes me six payouts. ”
WITHOUT DOWNLOADING
Let’s go back to Voluntari, which finished in 13th place last season and had to save the first league affiliation in the playoffs. Did you have other options that you were considering?
“Voluntari was number one for me, for several reasons. There is a president in the club who was previously in Diname Bucharest, so he knew me well. I connected with him and when he found out I was a free agent, he wanted to take me right away. At the same time, we wanted to stay in Bucharest. We didn’t want to move and in this respect it’s absolutely great.
I have 5-6 kilometers from the apartment to the training center, which is about ten minutes by car. I signed a contract for 1 + 1 year, which is also great at my age. I’m glad it worked out like this, because I still wanted to stay at a professional level. I also have quite decent conditions for Romanian conditions. ”
No one else called you?
“They called me from Steauy, the FCSB. However, there is such a special owner (Gigi Becali, ed. Note) and in addition I would have it for training for an hour and a half, all over the city. ”
The FCSB, acting vice-champion, would have higher ambitions. What are those in Voluntari?
“It would be nice if we played in the quiet middle of the table. These are the expectations, and I think we could meet them. By the way, when I came here from Dinam, I felt like I had joined the Bundesliga. Material security, intensity of training, it was a pleasant shock in everything. That’s why I think the middle of the table is real. We probably can’t aim higher, as only six teams will advance to the playoffs for the champions. On the other hand, smaller clubs got there last season as well, so why not? ”

After two introductory losses, you won for the first time in the 3rd round and it was just a duel against the club FC U Craiova 1948 (2: 1), when you started for Voluntari for the first time. Are you happy with your debut?
“I found out on Friday that I would be able to board. In the end, I only played the first half, because I was injured five minutes before the end. I got a strong elbow punch on the shoulder blade. I still managed it during the break, but then I couldn’t continue.
I believe that I will be fine for the next duel, which we play on Sunday. As for the match itself, it was not very nice. Our two standard situations decided. The visitors kept the ball out of reach. It may not have been a well-deserved victory, but it was very important for us. ”
Liviu Ciobotaria, a well-known Romanian name, is sitting on the coach’s bench. Did he take you to the basic lineup? Saturday would indicate this, as you started from the beginning at the first possible opportunity…
“The coach played at a high level. He understands football, he has good training. They took me to the club to play. For the time being, I feel completely fine physically and medically. If it continues to be so, I think I will play. This is my last, maybe penultimate year at this level and I still want to enjoy it. It wasn’t very happy in Dinama. ”
Have you also set personal goals for the near future?
“I never set numerical goals. With my game, goals or assists I will try to help the team. But I saw that it would not be easy. We had a lot of chances in the first three matches, but we didn’t use much. I believe that this is also due to the fact that there are many new players in the staff. It will probably get better in time. It is normal that the team has to play after the summer break. ”
By the way, have you not considered returning to the Slovak league? For example, Martin Škrtel has been on the rope of Spartak Trnava for a long time…
“Škrťo tried to convince me to go with him to Trnava and he is not there himself yet. Spartak was interested, that’s true, but we are happy with life in Romania. We like it here, we have no reason to change it. If it were the other way around, we would go home. Now at least we can finish the house and then we can come back. However, when I finish in Romania, I would like to go to a lower competition in Austria. I probably won’t play in Slovakia anymore. ”
MINIMUM ONE ATTACKER
Did you watch the performances of the Slovak national team, with which you said goodbye a few years ago, at Eure 2020?
“Yes. We have probably shown what we are up to now. No need to lie. I froze when I read the reactions that two and a half matches were great. I saw it differently. However, I do not want to criticize or evaluate anyone, because on the field it is completely different than at home on the couch.
In any case, I hope that the young boys will do well for the next few years and that success will come. Of course, the promotion to the championship itself is a success, even if 24 players are playing in the tournament, almost everyone is there.
You as a “hippopotamus”, what do you say we played on Eure without an attacker?
“It is true that we do not have an extremely large selection, we must honestly say so. Nevertheless, I would definitely play with at least one attacker, even if I only have a coach B-license… It’s not Ondrej Duda’s post, he has other roles. Although he also played good matches there, he himself would probably feel better somewhere else. Of course, there are also teams that can start that way, but they play in a completely different way. ”
Will you also try to submit specific names that could play in the national team at position number nine in the long run?
“Goddess has talent and when he develops it, he can prove it. However, he must not remain in the team in which he will not join. At his age, when he should move forward, it is a luxury to sit on a bench. Almasi, who left for Ostrava, has a good character. There are good stories about him, although I haven’t seen him play yet. For example, Schranz, who succeeds in shooting, is for me a wing rather than a point. However, I believe that the national team coach will have more options so that he can finally choose the right one. ”
WHEN YOU READ ABOUT THE BUS…
Adam Nemec has been working in Romania for several years, so he is well acquainted with the Sepsi OSK team, which failed in the 2nd preliminary round of the Conference League at Spartak Trnava. A goalless draw was born in Slovakia and the Romanian club was in the position of the favorite before retaliation.
