After more than two years of development, the biopic “I Want to Dance with Someone”, dedicated to Whitney Houston, is expected to hit theaters December 21st. Directed by Kasi Lemmons and written by Anthony McCarten, the film will trace the singer’s career after she was discovered by producer Clive Davis. The latter made him sign her first contract at the age of 19.
The title of the biopic is inspired by what was Whitney Houston’s biggest hit in 1987. The film promises to look at the singer’s successes, but also at the many controversies that have marked her career, such as rumors about her relationship. sentimental with her friend, Robyn Crawford, or her troubled marriage to her husband, singer Bobby Brown. Whitney Houston tragically died in 2012 of an overdose at the age of 48. Her daughter, Bobbi Christina Brown, who was 18 at the time of her death, would die only three years later.

Who will be in the cast of the film?
Seen in the “Doctor WHO” series, or in the “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” movie, Naomi Ackie will be tasked with embodying Whitney Houston on screen. She will soon be her in the credits of Zoë Kravitz’s first film, “Pussy Island”, as well as Bong Joon-ho’s next feature, “Mickey7”.
Producer Clive Davis – who appears in the film’s production – will be played by Stanley Tucci. Comedian Tamara Tunie will lend her features to the singer’s mother, Cissie Houston, who helped her daughter develop her voice through gospel. Ashton Sanders will play Bobby Brown, while Bria Danielle Singleton will play their daughter.
