Spotify – Email address already in use, although I have never registered there?

Got a little problem with Spotify. Normally I would ask directly, but even that doesn’t seem to work.
To be sure, I wanted to register. Spotify then said that my email address is already in use. That made me a little puzzled. Then I tried the “Forgot Password” option. There, however, the following is displayed to me when I enter the email address:
You appear to be trying to log into Spotify using your Facebook credentials. If you want to change your Facebook password, go to the settings page at facebook.com.
How is it said now that I have to change my FB password? I know for a fact that I never linked my FB account to Spotify. Then I tried again to register with my FB password, but it was unsuccessful. The SPotify Support and the Help Forum can only be used if you are logged in, which I can’t do ๐ How do I get out of the vicious circle?
