In October, Wayne Rooney left the USA and DC United for Birmingham in the Championship. But his stay at the club was short-lived – he was fired after only 15 league games.
Now the former United player says that in the long term he wants to become a manager in one of the clubs of his heart.
– Managing Manchester United or Everton is the goal, these big jobs are where you want to go, says Rooney according to ESPN.
– But it’s a process that I have to go through, I have to get back on track. I want to come back as a coach to make sure that in the next ten years I’m hopefully in a position to get one of the big jobs.
Wayne Rooney looks back on his failed stay at Birmingham – and admits he wants to find a new coaching job as quickly as possible. Everything to reach Manchester United or Everton in the long run.
– I definitely want to come back. It was a setback, what happened in Birmingham, but I’m a fighter and I want to come back.
With 253 goals, Wayne Rooney is Manchester United’s all-time leading scorer.
Rooney played for Everton twice during his career. He broke through at the club as a teenager, then returned in the final stages of his playing career. 28 goals in 117 appearances was his record at the Merseyside club.
