A few weeks before the release of their second album, the Dresden duo I WANT POETRY gives us another foretaste of “Solace + Light”. Her new song “Ocean” is the perfect indie pop single; Driving, danceable rhythms, uplifting melodies and synthesizers wash and carry you like the summer sea. The poetic lyrics by Tine von Bergen pay homage to friendship and the promise to be there for each other, even in rough times:
- I’ll keep your head above the water
- hold you like a child or like a lover
- I turn to you when you are on the rocks
- I’ll keep the flood away
- so you can dance
- I‘ll be your ocean
The visually stunning music video for “Ocean” directed by Kristin Herziger underscores I WANT POETRY’s reputation as one of the most visually stunning indie bands of today. Shot on the volcanic beaches and rocky cliffs of the Canary Islands, the video creates a pristine image of the elements and our human connection to one another and to nature.
I WANT POETRY received awards for their new album “Solace + Light” at the Saxony Pop Music Competition, among others. It will be released on May 26th.
