On April 29, a chamber music concert “Voices of Life” will take place at the House of Architects, where the flutist will perform works by foreign and Latvian composers. Liene Denisjuka-Straupepercussionist Elīna Endzele a pianist Kristine Paula.
“The stylistics of the concert will include both impressionistic and expressive and also Latvian intonations, but the works of all authors will be united by the theme of life,” says the concert’s creator Liene Denisjuka-Straupe, with whom we meet at Klasika.
The interest of the French avant-garde artist Olivier Messiah (1908-1992) in ornithology will be reflected in the composition “Black Starling” for flute and piano. The American composer John Luther Adams (1953) is also fascinated by the study of bird sounds, albeit in the Alaskan landscape near him. His handwriting, saturated with percussive elements enchanting the illusory world, will be enjoyed in the composition “Songs of Birds”.
New Zealand’s Gareth Fara (1968), on the other hand, has a creative focus on the traditional culture of his homeland and its modification in the soundtrack of music. The timbre-bright interaction between the flute and the marimba will be revealed in his three-part cycle “Flowering Flute”.
The program also includes music by three Latvian composers: Selga Mence’s trio “Songs of the Night” has been created especially for this ensemble, as well as Roberts Liede’s “Touches of the Sun” and Anna Marta Burve’s composition “Lilac, Star and Gray Brown Bird”.
