I WAKE UP, THE AGE OF THEATER

‘I woke up’ is the title of the work that is going to be performed in Basque within the autumn cycle of Theater Age, organized by the Pamplona City Council, led by Andoni Mutiloa, on November 10, from 7:00 p.m., at the Navarra Theater School. The price of the tickets is 8 euros, and can be purchased on the Navarra School of Theater website, www.laescueladeteatro.com, or at the theater box office from an hour and a half before the start of the show.

SYNOPSIS

Elur works at The Pink Flamingo club in London. In addition to dancing and singing, he has managed to have his own show and every night many people come to see him. Elur’s change has been impressive. In fact, until 10 years ago he lived with his family in a village. How the hell did this Basque peasant get to be a fashion artist for the trans collective in London? What have Elur’s experiences been these last 10 years? And why is Beyoncé to blame for all of this?

Esnatu naiz is a show that mixes theater, dance and music. It deals with identity, human relationships and sexuality, but, above all, it invites us to merge with our identity and to live in freedom.

Although the story that this show tells us is peculiar, it raises a profound question: do our identity and our way of life coincide? Asked in another way: what place do our desires, our needs and our dreams occupy in our day to day? In addition to challenging various customs and norms rooted in society, we want to convey a message in favor of the rights of the LGBTI + community through this work.
