Arrived in Nancy this Saturday from his native Guadeloupe, where he has just spent ten days with his family, Bruno Cingala-Mata (28 years old; 2 m) witnessed the victory of SLUC against Vichy-Clermont (107 -83). The opportunity for a first contact with the medical freelance writer hired until the end of the season, following the injury of Vincent Vent.
Bruno, you wore the Boulazac jersey, in a Jeep Elite in October (3 m.; 3.3 points; 4.3 rebounds in 17 minutes on average). Since then, you have been without a club. Explain to us what happened?
This season, my career choice was to play in an Elite Jeep. After my visit to Boulazac, my agent and I always thought that I could find another Jeep Elite club. But about two weeks ago, we learned that the regulations forbid me to do so. I took a big blow with the club! We had to digest… I think that, given the exceptional nature of the season, there was perhaps something to adapt the regulations, to postpone the deadline…
And Nancy came knocking on your door?
Nancy had already contacted me this summer, but I wanted to play in an Elite Jeep. When the managers called me back after Vincent Vent’s injury, I took the time to reflect. I didn’t want to come here by default, but with envy. I returned to recharge my batteries for a few days in Guadeloupe. I decided to accept the challenge and give myself one hundred percent. Nancy is a team with which I can possibly project myself a little further than the three months that remain, this season. I’m not a one-shot guy. I’m leaving for three months and I hope for more… in an Elite Jeep.

“I came to help out on station 5 …”
Without being able to play in an Elite Jeep, joining a candidate for the climb is a lesser evil?
Coming to Nancy and helping the club to fulfill its objective of joining the elite is indeed a great challenge. I am a player who puts a lot of energy into everything he does. Besides, I’m hungry! I am excited to begin.
By the time you arrive, it is your ex-teammate Tyran De Lattibeaudiere (in Tours, in 2018-19) who is injured …
Too bad ! Especially since his presence was also one of the reasons that made me excited to come. It’s a big blow. But I have no doubt that the club is already working on this behind the scenes. We will have to adapt. I came to troubleshoot on station 5, suddenly I will surely help more on station 4… It’s not a problem, I am versatile.

The Pro B, you know. You had a convincing season there with Gries-Oberhoffen (9.2 points, 7.2 rebounds in 2019-20) …
It has clearly been my best season in Pro B. Now I want to do my best three months in Pro B, with Nancy! And then we say three months, but in fact there are about twenty matches left (Editor’s note: 19 for SLUC, exactly). There will be plenty to do …
