“I think tennis has always been an elegant sport”

Roger Federer is more ready than ever to compete at the highest level, despite having gotten older and restored to athletic condition after surgery due to knee injury in 2020. The Swiss champion recently relaunched his ambitions and made it clear that one of his big goals for 2021 will be to win the gold medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

The Olympic gold medal is indeed one of the few laurels that is still missing in the already extraordinary career of the Swiss champion. In 2012 Federer almost won, but was beaten by Andy Murray in the final in London.

An even more burning defeat since it took place in the “backyard” on the lawn of his beloved Wimbledon. Federer recently spoke about today’s tennis culture in a podcast. The challenge was that he had to describe it in three words, which he did wonderfully.

Federer: “I think it’s super global”

“I think tennis has always been an elegant sport, so I would say it is an elegant sport,” began a cheerful Roger Federer.

“I think people see it that way too, there is also a kind of ballerina aspect that we have on the tennis court. I think it’s an arena sport that you know the stadiums are big in some ways but not too big.

I think it’s intimate you know so I find it really elegant. “Federer emphasized that tennis was one of the most global sports. He gave his reasons for this and said that tennis players used to travel more than musicians.

“It is perhaps one of the most global sports. We go on a world tour from January to November. So I always compare it to being a musician who goes on a world tour. Musicians don’t do this every year, but we have to and we do it every year, so I think it’s super global, ”added Federer.

It looks like Indian Wells may be canceled for the second year in a row in 2021. It was the first major tennis tournament to be canceled in March 2020 as more COVID-19 cases occurred worldwide.

The 2021 edition was scheduled for March 8-21, but now an ATP 250 tournament is scheduled for March 8-14. The Open 13, an ATP 250 tournament in Marseille, France, has the preliminary dates for their tournament from Aug.

set to March 14th. It depends a lot on the Indian Wells situation. If the Los Angeles tournament is postponed or canceled, Open 13 will take place in its place.
