“I Take the Loss on Myself”: Hanák Goalie Macík Blames Himself for Team’s Loss

“I feel good, I train a lot, honestly, I try. Mistakes shouldn’t happen, but they do. That’s just football. Unfortunately, now they have come at the most inopportune time. We didn’t need them at all. I take the loss on myself, it’s definitely coming after me,” he scolded.

In the first half, in the fifth minute of added time, he did not manage to take the ball home when he mishandled the ball, then fouled the onrushing Fila and it resulted in a penalty, which Hybš converted and sent Teplice into the lead. “We should have given the ball away from one calmly, and there would have been peace,” Macík knew. He almost succeeded in correcting the mistake. He reached for Hybš’s shot, but it was not enough. , that he could change direction and go outside the gate. Unfortunately, we were not lucky,” he recounted.

He blushed for the second time in the second half, already at 1:1. Hybše’s center ran up and Urbanec directed his team to three points. “I saw it right after the game on video. I shouldn’t have gone to that center. I had it far and I probably wasn’t even in the right position. We want to do difficult things and I went for the ball thinking I was going to have it, but I didn’t have it,” described the experienced goalkeeper.

He already signed on the loss of points in the matches at Slavia and at home against Bohemians. “It was completely different in Prague. I think the goal didn’t go my way. With Kangaroos, yes, I let go of a shot I should have caught. I can evaluate when I’m going to make a mistake and when I’m not,” he said.

Not only did Sigma’s coach Václav Jílek have an understanding of his past. “There were already too many of them at the goalkeeper post in the spring. First Trefil made a mistake, now Macík. We finally have to play matches where the goalkeeper will hold us up, like Grigar from Teplice now. He solved two or three difficult situations and it brought points to his team,” he noted.

“However, it would be stupid to throw everything at Macík now. We had enough opportunities and time to turn it around. And most importantly, we didn’t handle the first half badly, especially in our heads. Our performance did not correspond at all to the fact that we want to play for the sixth place, possibly even higher places. The first goal was the result of our failure,” emphasized Jílek.

According to him, the next goal already had a double meaning. “Pokorný was absent from the field because he was being treated. When it happens, it happens. However, it is not an excuse. We have to finish it at ten. But the goal came from the category of cheap, and already several times. Maybe even a point would solve something. However, we didn’t deserve him,” the coach of Hanák acknowledged.

“The first half was quite tragic from our side. We were nobody in the game. We also said it in the cabin. So we can’t play for what we want. After the break, the team was already pedaling. We played, went for a goal, equalized at 1:1 and we all believed that we would turn it around. We pounded them, we shut them down, we had what it took to win. Unfortunately, a moment came from my side that destroyed everything,” Macík poured ashes on his head again.
