Ronald Koeman admits it would be much better to see Luis Suarez play for Juventus than for Atletico Madrid.
However, the club had to let him go, says the Dutchman.
“We are changing and of course it would have been better if Luis Suarez signed for Juventus instead of Atletico Madrid because he is still in the Spanish league,” Ronald Koeman told The Athletic.
“But that kind of decision, we had to make it, really tough decisions but with respect to the player, and I think that’s really important. And I still agree with what we did at the time, ”added the Dutchman.
In September, the legendary Uruguayan left Camp Nou for free for Atletico Madrid. Right now he is La Liga’s top scorer this season – the 34-year-old has scored 14 league goals for his new side.
At the same time, Suarez’s exit helped Barcelona increase the salary budget and land Sergino Dest this summer.
