I saw the child on the ground under my seat and I don’t remember anymore (Review)

The condition of 6-year-old Mihail is critical – he has very serious injuries, say the “St. George” University Hospital in Plovdiv

Dozens went to donate blood after the appeal of relatives of the family

The whole village prays for both the boy and their ruler

“Everything is in the hands of the doctors and God. “
This is what the mayor of Starosel, Mateya Gudev, said with a trembling voice and teary eyes in front of “24 Chasa”, a day after 6-year-old Mihail Nikolov ended up under the tires of the car he was driving.

The boy was walking with his grandfather on one of the streets in the village when he was hit by the mayor’s car around 10 o’clock on Monday.

“I saw him on the ground under my seat and I don’t remember anymore,” said the manager, who was released from custody after a few hours. He claims he is

drove at no more than 10-15 km/h, as he was leading a RZI car

– Plovdiv, to the cemetery. The inspectors wanted to check the condition of the local funeral park and a guest house.

The incident happened on “Bratstvo” street near the old people’s home. The employees of the health inspection themselves became witnesses.

“He was brought to me in a coma. At one point he went into shock, then into a coma again. What could I do? I didn’t know what his injuries were,” said Elka Dragneva, the home’s nurse.

After 10-15 minutes, an ambulance arrived and transported the child to the University Hospital “St. Georgi” in Plovdiv. There, the doctors are fighting for the boy’s life.

Juliet’s grandmother and Mikhail’s grandfather are literally crushed and constantly crying.

“The front tire of the car went through the child’s stomach. They had to lift the car in their hands to get him out,” Julieta Mitkova told “24 Chasa”.

A rumor circulated in Starosel that the mayor had had a vision problem for years

“I miss you. The whole village knows. His car is constantly hit. Otherwise, he is a very good person. It can happen to anyone,” says Georgi Velichkov, a local resident.
Little Michaud’s grandmother, however, does not want to listen to rumours.

“They won’t help our child,” she waves her hand. He thinks only a wizard doctor can save him.
He does not want to comment on the mayor’s words that he was driving at 10-15 km/h. People wonder if it is possible to cause such severe injuries at such a low speed.

Little Micho is from Sofia. Together with his sisters, he visited his grandparents in Starosel in the summer.

“You had a great vacation, you’re welcome! My husband constantly cries and blames himself: “It would have been better if you had run over me and not the child”, says Julieta.
The grandfather claimed that he was holding the child’s hand when the car ran over him.

People in Starosel pray for both little Micho and the mayor. No one says a bad word about 67-year-old Mateja Gudev, who is in charge for a second term. He was elected by a local coalition “Change”. He is a retired military lieutenant colonel. He served in a royal division.

He has not turned anyone away, everyone who has sought him is
received help

Violeta Velcheva describes it. He said that mostly adults live in the village. And since there was no pharmacy, Gudev took the prescriptions and went to Hisarya to buy their medicines.

“It can happen to anyone. Bad luck. It’s a pity”, says Velcheva.

And grandmother Vala, supported by two canes, cries and prays for both little Michael and Mateya Gudev.

“Hey there, poor kid, he’s been bumped. I hope the doctors will save him”, she baptized herself.

Immediately after the arrest, the mayor went to work. He didn’t cover up after the incident, he comes out and explains what happened. And he repeats how much he regrets and suffers.

When asked about vision problems, he replied that two years ago he had an operation on his eye for a curtain and could see well.

When asked how he is, he answers: “I’m sick!” His colleague from the neighboring village of Krasnovo Tsviatko Istilyanov came to show his support. “Mateya will be relieved when the child gets better. God willing,” he says.

The police took away only Mateja Gudev’s control card. But he is so devastated by what happened that he doesn’t think about it at all and just shakes his head. From time to time his eyes water.

And you can live without a driver’s license, as long as the child gets better,

he repeats. Dozens went to donate blood for little Michael. However, his condition remains serious and life-threatening, said the children’s surgery clinic at UMBAL “St. George”. He has severe body injuries, several broken ribs and lung problems. Leading doctors at the hospital are by his side around the clock and hope to save him.

The district prosecutor’s office in Plovdiv is investigating the incident. According to magistrates, the mayor broke the rules of the road and hit the child, causing him moderate injury.

He was tested for alcohol and drugs and the samples came back negative. Appointment of auto technical and forensic expertise is pending to establish the facts of the case.
