A man living in India received requests to share winnings after winning the lottery’s top prize, the BBC reported on the 26th (local time).
This man is a motorist named Anub, who lives in southern Kerala, and he bought a lottery ticket by breaking his son’s piggy bank on the 17th, the day before he went to work in Malaysia.
As it was the highest lottery prize in the state, it received a lot of media attention and made headlines in various newspapers. But the happiness didn’t last long. I had to be locked up in the house because people were asking to share the winnings.
Even though he only had 150 million rupees (about 2.6 billion won) after tax in his hand, many people flocked to his house every morning. A week later, Anub posted a video in which he urged himself to stop bullying himself and his family. He said, “I’m sorry I won first place,” he said.
He continued: “I cannot leave the house and I cannot take my son to the hospital even if he is sick,” she said. Currently, he and his family live with relatives.
The state government has said it will provide financial management training to help Anub use his winnings wisely.
