The actor Ernesto Gómez Cruz died at the age of 90, after an outstanding career of almost 200 productions in Mexican cinema and television, although he lived his last years amid health problems and melancholy.
His death was announced this April 6 by the National Association of Actors, the National Association of Interpreters (ANDI) also dedicated a message to the actor in films such as Los Caifanes (1967), Herod’s Law (1999), El Infierno ( 2010), The Crime of Father Amaro (2002), The Alley of Miracles (1995) and Canoa (1976).

The UNAM Film Library highlighted: “Farewell to the great Caifán, Ernesto Gómez Cruz. The multi-award-winning actor will be remembered… In 2003 he received the FilmotecaUNAM Medal for his artistic sensitivity. Rest in peace”.
What did Ernesto Gómez Cruz die from?
The causes of the actor’s death have not been revealed, but a few years ago, in 2015, he spoke about his health problems.
That year, during a conversation with Notimex, the actor from Veracruz said that doctors had diagnosed him with a normal degenerative process for his age: every day he lost visual and hearing acuity, which did not prevent him from continuing to work.
