Billionaire Jeff Bezos had a big dream come true last week. In the space capsule of his company Blue Origin, he flew into Earth’s orbit and then returned safely to the Earth’s surface, according to Gizmodo.
However, Bezos did not fly alone, he was accompanied on board by his brother Mark Bezos, 82-year-old pilot Wally Funk and 18-year-old Oliver Daemen from the Netherlands. Oliver’s father, Joes Daemen, is the head of an investment firm who paid Bezos for a space flight at auction, but didn’t win it.
With the anonymous $28M winning bidder backing out due to a “scheduling conflict,” 18yr-old Oliver Daemen is joining Jeff Bezos in space today.
He’s the son of private equity CEO Joes Daemen & will become the youngest person to travel to space.

The winner was a $ 28 million unknown customer to this day, but due to his busy schedule, he could not take part in the flight, so Daemen was transferred from the second flight to the first one. However, according to him, his father did not pay nearly as much as the winner of the auction.

Daemen then told Bezos that he had never bought anything from Amazon. He was said to have just told him between speeches as they hovered tens of kilometers above the earth’s surface, which surprised Bezos, because, according to him, he had not met a man for a long time who had never bought anything from Amazon before.
This confession may have sounded funny, especially in light of the statements Jeff Bezos made after his successful return from space. In his speech, he thanked all Amazon employees and customers for allowing him to finance this space project and pay him for it in its entirety.
