Angela Koch plays for table tennis top division TSG Kaiserslautern II. The 20-year-old, who competes in the top pair cross in the table, wants a return to her sport. “Before the corona lockdown, I always went to training three times a week. I don’t have the regularity, ”says Koch, who is currently completing an apprenticeship with an insurance company. In particular, she misses a certain routine in table tennis, which may not appear in the major league until the 2021/2022 season because this game round has been shortened to a single round with only eight games. “I just need my training,” adds Koch, who belongs to the top of the Pfalz table tennis.
To compensate for the lack of exercise, Koch is currently doing a fitness workout at home. “I don’t have other great options. We don’t have our own table tennis table at home, ”adds the TSG player. In any case, she would have a sparring partner. Because father Andreas Koch is incredibly successful in senior table tennis, was even a German champion there and is an institution of the Saarland Table Tennis Association.
The social contacts she wants back are not just limited to her friends. “I also lack contact with my grandma and grandpa. They are both at risk, ”says the offensive player from Merzig (Saarland), who brought in a large number of titles in the youth field and was part of the Saar team for a long time.
