“I miss the feeling of making people dance.”

Hoyerswerda. One after the other: Kim grew up in Hoyerswerda and enjoyed music from an early age. The now 23-year-old took singing and guitar lessons at the Léon Foucault High School, played in musicals, listened to a lot of music and was thus enthusiastic about several genres. “It was already clear to me at the time that at some point I wanted to make my own music.”

After graduating from high school in 2015, she moved to Berlin and first worked as a booker in a modeling agency. She made sure that, for example, appointments for models were planned and ran smoothly. Then Kim, who is more practical, decided against the lecture hall and began training as an event manager. Through a good friend who worked as a DJ, she got to know how to DJ better and was inspired. She practiced a lot and gave herself the stage name Kim She, under which she initially played mainly hip-hop. Meanwhile, however, she does more of what she wants and has arrived in the rather anonymous, but very diverse metropolis.

She can combine work and hobby well, because in both areas she gets to know a lot of people and experiences a lot. Her company is mainly active in the entertainment industry. She organizes film premieres in Berlin or on the Côte d’Azur in Cannes. After 2019 was her year and she was allowed to play at one of the biggest hip-hop festivals in Europe, the “Splash!”, In addition to appearances in hip Berlin clubs, she really wanted to attack in 2020. At the beginning of last year she and a friend founded the collective “moral-flexible”, whose name primarily refers to music. “We just want to serve every genre and not have classic hip-hop or techno parties.” But the pandemic not only caused her first own series of parties to be canceled, but also numerous gigs in Berlin and at various festivals. In addition to her fees from clubs, festivals or other events, she especially misses the people and the feeling of making them dance. “That is of course a real boost for self-confidence when you are up there and people appreciate your work.” Kim She has also made a name for himself at village parties and in clubs in the local region. She likes to visit her home country often, because it is more familiar here. She also sees a positive development in Hoyerswerda, which is noticeable, for example, in the Braugasse community center. However, she sees her goals and opportunities in the capital. In addition to the longing for performances and the continuation of her own series of parties, she already has her next goal in mind. She wants to produce her own music and works hard for it – also on herself.
