“I Made Wirawan appointed as assistant goalkeeper coach for Persib Bandung: A new chapter in his coaching career”

Hanging up his boots as a player did not necessarily make I Made Wirawan part with Persib. Now he is immediately entrusted with filling in Maung Bandung’s coaching staff as assistant goalkeeper coach. The Balinese man admits that he is enthusiastic about taking on his new duties on the team.

He admitted that he had forgotten that his role was different at Persib because he was no longer a player. Later when the team starts the pre-season agenda, Made will immediately become Luizinho Passos’ assistant. This is also of course an opportunity for him to gain knowledge from seniors in coaching.

“What is certain is enthusiasm because this is very new for me in a new position. To be honest, yesterday when it was announced that we would practice, I forgot that I am not a player anymore. Until my wife reminded me, when I’m not a player anymore, “Made said in an interview, Thursday (25/5).

“So yes, this is a new chapter for me, I have a new opportunity to learn because I learned a lot from coach Luizinho Passos, as an assistant to coach Luiz Passos, I can also see Luis Milla train here,” he continued.

A three-year contract has been agreed to fill a new role in the team. He also explained why he finally became an assistant goalkeeper coach after officially announcing his retirement as a player. Thanks to Luizinho Passos’ input, he finally chose to start focusing on pursuing a career as a coach.

“What is certain is that at first I was quite close to coach Passos, he gave me input and there were several other offers, but with an offer from Persib with the same offer from coach Passos, I chose to stay here even though I’m not a player anymore,” he explained.

He did not deny that there were offers from other clubs to ask for his hand as an active player in the goalkeeper position. But the choice was taken to retire and change the status of being a goalie coach. Because with this, Made can also continue to serve the Persib Bandung club.

“As a player, there are still offers, since the league hasn’t finished until after it’s finished, there are still offers too, only I haven’t answered at that time because there hasn’t been an official decision for me to stay here, so in the end I held on until I finally chose Persib,” he said.
