I loved him but he was a domestic abuser (review)

  • People here are not used to such relationships, Radev explained
  • He introduced himself to the magistrates in the courtroom as a composer
  • The incident occurred a day after the two lived in Stamboliyski

45-year-old Alexander Radev from Sofia, accused of the intentional murder of her husband Andreas Ropel, is appearing before the Plovdiv District Court after the prosecutor’s office filed the indictment.

According to the indictment, on May 4 this year, Radev stabbed Ropel to death after a drunken argument in their home in the town of Stamboliyski.

They got married in 2020 in Germany. Despite the couple’s legal union, they often quarreled. There was also physical self-mutilation.

At first, the men built a family nest in Sofia, but on May 3 of this year they moved to the Radev hereditary house in Stamboliyski.

He also got his pets: a decorative pig, 2 dogs and 8 cats. The next day they went to the market, then went home and sat down to drink. Under the influence of alcohol, they got into a fight and started pulling, hitting and hurting each other.

According to the indictment, Alexander Radev spontaneously decided to kill Andreas Ropel, took a knife and stabbed him. Then he realized what he had done and called 112. He went to hospital with her wounded husband, but the German died there.

“We have a wedding in Germany. Andrei, that’s what I call him, was a domestic molester. I called the police 30-40 times. I’m not Andrey’s killer, but the person who called an ambulance and took him in hospital,” Radev said in front of the Plovdiv District Court, when his pre-trial detention order was being examined.

And said he couldn’t wink in jail because, if he closes his eyes, the German is still in front of him. “People in Bulgaria are not used to such relationships. Andrei was my husband and my most beloved creature,” she added. Radev tried to free himself with another argument.

“Even under house arrest I want to get out. I don’t know what’s happening to my children, is there someone to feed them,” she explained.

“You call your animals children, don’t you?” asked Judge Ekaterina Roglekova. “Yes,” answered Alexander.

After Radev’s arrest, his defense argued that the legal classification of the offense was wrong because it was an inevitable defense – when they argued, Andreas Ropel was the first to draw a knife.

Despite all these arguments, Alexander Radev has been in custody since the day of her husband’s death, and even after the investigation was completed, the charge remained intentional homicide. The foreseen penalty is imprisonment from 10 to 20 years.

The man was convicted of arson and has already been rehabilitated. There is evidence in the case that he had shown aggression even before the fatal date, not towards Andreas, but towards other people.

Alexander Radev appeared before the court as a composer, and a check from “24 Chasa” showed that there is a person with the same name among the registered artists.
