“A team of Latino superheroes at the New York Comic Con.

The action figures of the characters created by the novelist Edgardo Miranda Rodríguez, La Borinqueña, Oro el coquí, which comes in two versions; in regular size and another in coquí size, the gargoyle, villain of the saga, and Luz the Luminous, the first Dominican heroine, will be at Comic Con New York for the first time.

“Yes, yes, yes and we continue with this…,” says the creator.

– Edgardo, did you ever think that this was so popular in our community?

“No, I only had dreams that we were going to be able to tell more stories, publish more comics and get to the point of holding an action figure like I’m holding it now, but for- Actually after eight years I am very proud and happy. , but at the same time it’s amazing that we’ve continued with so many things for so many years.

New York Comic Con is the largest pop culture convention on the East Coast and the only one held in the comic book capital of the world, New York City. More than 300 thousand people are expected at this event. For Edgardo it is one more door that opens for Latin creators.

“I hope to inspire other artists, other authors and even children who need to draw already, to develop their ideas as I have done here in the schools of New York, ” explained the artist.

Edgardo has been a collector of action figures since he was little. His first Batman was bought by his mother.

“From Batman now to La Borinquena,” said Edgardo Miranda Rodriguez.

He says that by fulfilling his dream as a child, his stories are now changing the lives of many children who grow up reading La Borinqueña.

“It’s normal now to see Latinos as superheroes and that to me is very revolutionary, bringing that to kids so that future generation can have their powers identify themselves, that is their Latin heritage,” said Miranda Rodriguez.

The Borinquena characters will be at the New York Comic Con from October 17 to 20 at the Jacob Javits Center.
