“I hope I can move on after the lawsuit, Johnny too.”

Actress Amber Heard thanked the people who supported her before the start of the case in which her ex-husband Johnny Depp sued her for defamation.

Hurd posted a message on the social network Instagram, in which he announced that he will be offline in the coming weeks to face Depp in court.

Johnny is suing me for an article I wrote for the Washington Post in which I described my experiences of violence and domestic violence. I never mentioned it by name, instead I wrote about the price women pay when they speak out against men in power. I pay that price, but I hope that when the case is over, I will be able to move on, so can Johnny, “the actress wrote.

Depp’s lawsuit is for defamation. The actor wants $ 50 million in damages, and the case itself will be heard in the US state of Virginia.

The court has already rejected Hurd’s request for her ex-husband’s claim to be rejected after he lost another similar case against the tabloid The Sun in the UK in November 2020. It was because of an article calling him a “wife bully.”

The article in The Washington Post, for which Depp is suing his ex-wife, is from 2018. There Hurd states that she has experienced domestic violence. He did not name Depp in the article, but accused him of violence earlier, in 2016, after he filed for divorce.

“I have always hidden my love for Johnny and it is a great pain for me to have to go through the details of our past life together in front of the world,” the actress wrote.

She added that over the years she has received a lot of support and will rely on her more than ever in the coming weeks.

According to Depp, his ex-wife’s allegations had a detrimental effect on his career and led to Hollywood “boycotting” him. He cites the long-delayed premiere of his film Minamata as an example. He also left the Fantastic Beasts franchise at Warner Bros. and went to Mads Mickelsen.
