It was around lunchtime on Saturday that the one-year-old boy Santiago and his grandmother Linda were at Festplassen in Bergen.

Santiago is said to have hidden behind his grandmother, who was talking to two other women, when the man on the scooter came and the one-year-old was hit, according to her mother Lorena Larsen.

The driver fell off the electric scooter when he hit Santiago on the side. The one-year-old fell on his arm and screamed.

The grandmother was encouraged by several on the spot to call the police.

– The police called me earlier today and said that they had found the man and that they should interrogate him, she says to VG.

– I’m glad they found him. I hope he takes responsibility for what he has done, says Larsen.

Larsen is not yet sure if she will report, and is waiting for a message after the police have questioned the man.

Now she is waiting for a phone call from the police.

Larsen says that things are going better with Santiago now.

– Santiago is better, I think he is starting to forget the incident. He is not as scared as he was before, she says and adds:

– Sometimes he still cries, so it is difficult to know. It has been a shock for him, so he needs some time.

To VG, police lawyer Miriam Hauken says that the police, with assistance from the electric scooter company Voi, have identified the person they believe was the driver of the electric scooter.

– We are talking about a man in his 50s, she says.

At 12.20 the interrogation of the man takes place.

Hauken says that the police do not want to provide further details now since the interrogations with the man have not been completed.

– As soon as the suspect is aware of the decision, we will inform the press with more information, she adds.

The police expect that they will finish the investigation during this week.
