The luxury yacht left the Sicilian port of Milaco on August 14 and was last registered east of Palermo with a navigation status of “at anchor”. Experts are inclined to believe that the yacht went over to its side against the strong elements, with the long mast playing its part in tilting the ship. Divers are still searching for several people missing on board the superyacht. We gathered what we know about the incident so far.

Some of the rescued people and witnesses have already confirmed what happened to the foreign media. Giuseppe, a local fisherman, was among the people who witnessed the disaster in the port of Porticello.

“I was on Francesca’s motorboat when I saw mats and T-shirts floating in the sea,” said one of the witnesses.
