On April 16, composer Pēteris Vasks will celebrate his 75th anniversary. The Latvian Radio Choir, conductor Sigvards Kļava and pianist Reinis Zariņš will gather composers Pēteris Vasks, Arturs Maskats and Andrejs Selickis together in an online concert on April 17 – choral music and piano music, as well as several premieres.
“I have written the notes in love, but they give life to them.
It is such a pleasure. I am such a sensitive guy, all I have to do is wipe away my tears and say thank you for such a beautiful gift, ”Pēteris Vasks is grateful to the concert creators.
Wax is always interested in the work of his colleagues, he supports and actively attends concerts. Vasks jokes that he is not in love only with his music, and is happy that in his 75th anniversary concert, together with the Latvian Radio Choir and pianist Reini Zariņš, the opuses of Arturs Maskats and Andrejs Selicks will be performed.
Sigvards Kļava, the artistic director of the Latvian Radio Choir, reveals: “I had a feeling that I should create a trinity sign where Pēteris is like a father in the middle. They needed those like-minded people very different in appearance, but compatible with all three of them together. And that is Arturs Maskats with an extremely sensual and spiritual touch and Andrejs Selickis with this spiritual sign. ”
The Latvian Radio Choir has received a gift from Pēteris Vasks – a composition “Angele Dei” for the choir a cappella. It is a prayer to the guardian angel to serve as a reminder of God’s guardian love. The concert will also feature the dramatic ballad “Our Mother’s Words” with the words of Mara Chakla and the prayer “My Lord and My God”.
“Its spiritual dimension is so incomprehensible. People running forget about it. The music reminds me that she is and she is so rich. ”
expresses Wax.
Sigvards Kļava says: “Peter has a very important emotional and silent prayer, and he has not hidden it in any way. Maybe that’s the one way to the creator. “
The composer has experienced a happy moment, receiving a gift from his wife Dzintra Geka. He reveals: “This is the most wonderful gift – the flagpole and our flag. How beautiful! There was not enough wind, he just fluttered a bit, greeted me. I just go out from time to time and rejoice and watch our flag go there. A very, very beautiful mast, and our flag is up there. ”
“A beautiful gift from God is to live! To live in such a beautiful, wonderful country as Latvia. Let’s be full of joy, energy, strength and love! ” wishes Pēteris Vasks.
On April 17, at 9 pm, the concert will be shown on the website of “Latvijas Koncertu”, as well as on the “Radio” channel of the Latvian Radio Choir.
