Feyenoord coach Arne Slot assumes that his current employer and Liverpool can reach an agreement in the short term. The coach of the Rotterdam team indicated before the away match against Go Ahead Eagles that he was in the ‘waiting room’ for a summer transfer to England.
Slot is the intended successor to Jürgen Klopp at Liverpool, who will leave Anfield after this year. ‘The only thing I can say about it is that the clubs are negotiating. I am in the waiting room,” Feyenoord’s current coach said in an interview with ESPN.
‘Or me excited am? It seems clear to me that I would like to go to Liverpool. I am now waiting to see whether the clubs reach an agreement, but I have every confidence in that. It is now up to the clubs and as the main character you have to respect that. More will become clear in the coming days,” Slot said.
Feyenoord’s sought-after coach has starting places for Justin Bijlow and Gernot Trauner, among others, for the away match against Go Ahead. ‘There is still plenty for us to play for, as well as for the boys, with a view to the European Championship. Justin and Gernot can return to the picture for their national team and then it is up to the national coaches to decide whether to call them up or not.’
