“I gave the travel bug to my wife and children!”

For seven years, François Pécheux has been crisscrossing the globe, descending magnificent rivers in At the end is the sea. A taste for travel that he passed on to his wife and four children, as he recounted in an interview with Tele-Leisure.

In the large family of adventurers, there is the veteran Antoine de Maximy, who has been traveling the world with his backpack and three cameras since 2005. Philippe Gougler, for his part, prefers to crisscross the planet by taking Trains like no other. Lucie Carrasco also regularly takes to the road with Jérémy Michalak. Apprentice hairdresser Ambre Dupont sets off to discover traditions through the prism of… hair. A little more daring, Nans Thomassey and Guillaume Tisserand-Mouton travel across France in their simplest attire in Naked and cheeky. Finally, for François Pécheux, the wanderings take place along the rivers. “These shows are based on the personality of the person who plays them.”explained the presenter about this kind of programs during an interview with Tele-Leisure. “If any of them made Au bout c’est la mer, it would have his look. It’s not the train that counts, but Philippe’s wonderful look (Google, editor’s note). Same for Nus et culottés. I like them. It’s a chance to have this very precious freedom”he sums up.

“In At the end is the seawe don’t wear makeup,” says François Pécheux

A journalist by training, François Pécheux has worked in television since the end of the 1990s, both as a producer (It’s open on Saturdays) as a presenter (Action investigation or My Duck). The production company he co-founded with Stéphane Meunier and Jérôme Caza (2P2L) is even at the origin of the legendary documentary Eyes in the blues. All this to say that he knows a thing or two about it. But he seems to have truly found his way with At the end is the sea : “In 25 years of television, I have done shows where we wear makeup. Here, we don’t wear makeup.”. A program built around his very personal relationship with water: “I sailed and fished a lot with my father. My father created the Saumur sailing club. He even built the boats to sail on the Loire. I have very strong memories of the smell of this river, of the sand scraping the hulls, and of the nights in this boat.”.

François Pécheux then traveled a lot: “From the age of 18, I have always traveled. I left with my backpack. I went to India four times. I have always had this desire to leave and I will always have it, even after Au bout c’est la mer”He passed on this taste for discovering foreign countries to his wife and four children: “I gave them the bug! I’m taking advantage of it because the little ones are getting big. The two eldest have now passed to the other side. I still have a year or two left to have the pleasure of leaving with the two youngest and my wife“. Sometimes his family even found him on the filming locations ofAt the end is the sea : “The first year, after the episode on the Mekong, they joined me in Laos where we celebrated Christmas at the end of filming. The following year, they came to Brazil. It’s a bit like I had scouted for them”he concluded. A holiday that the Pécheux family must remember.
