“I gave my life to be a brand”

Australian musician Kylie Minogue has broken her silence on her lawsuit against American TV star and cosmetics brand owner Kylie Jenner over the brand of her nouns. Speaking on a TV show, Minogue said the legal action she took in 2014 after Jenner’s application for trademark rights to the “Kylie” name for clothing and cosmetics companies in the US was “necessary.” Minogue also said she thought Jenner was older than her when she tried to brand herself as a “TV personality” at the same time as using her own name “Kylie.”

“I have to keep my name”

The 54-year-old musician said: “I was disappointed to learn that Kylie Jenner was only 17 in 2014. Because I thought I was dating someone older than me. But I had started the lawsuit. Because I’d spent my whole life building and protecting my name as a brand, so I did what I had to do. After the intervention of Minogue’s attorneys, Jenner’s trademark application was denied by the United States Patent Office, while the musician used the word, “But let me say that we’ve come to an agreement with Jenner.”
