– I feel I have to keep my spirits up – VG

HAPPY IN ALL THEIR DAYS: Maria and Hans-Petter have been together for 15 years and engaged to eleven of them. They had hoped to finally get everyone together at their wedding.

Due to the corona pandemic, Maria Mangen and her fiancé have had to move the wedding twice. Now the pilot strike once again threatens the plans.

About a month ago, the bride and groom were going for a taste test at the wedding in Mallorca, but then Maria and her daughter became ill.

– So then I did not get to agree to it either, and thought that this can not get worse now.

A little over a month later, she is stuck in Oslo on Thursday afternoon with her heavily pregnant best friend, a father who is missing a ticket by plane, and a fiancé who is stranded in France and is considering taking a ferry to Mallorca.

In addition, several guests are on their way to the Spanish city in both cars and trains.

– I feel like a bride that I have to keep my spirits up for those who break a little of the stress, she tells VG.

CELEBRATION: Here Maria celebrates a bachelor party before she finally gets married.

Quite dramatic

She says that wedding planning has been extra difficult because it is abroad. They have also paid an expensive price for caterers, wedding planners, a Spanish guitarist, DJ and locals.

After 900 SAS pilots went on strike on Monday, a number of flights have been canceled – and 22 of 88 guests have had to find alternative routes, according to Mangen.

Among them are also the bride and groom themselves.

– This which should have been joy and celebration is just sad and filled with stress. Dad does not have a ticket and if he is not there to follow me down the altar then it is very sad, she says.

Many do not expect her guests to go down to Mallorca at any cost, but say that everyone who comes is important people.

– We have been lovers for so long and thought we should go “all in”, and our parents are starting to get older. It is not certain that we will get everyone together and have such a big and nice party again.

The wedding will take place over three days, and the hotel is booked for two to three weeks.

COZY TIMES: Here the little family is gathered to celebrate a birthday on an earlier occasion.

Many say that after the cancellation they finally got hold of SAS, but that they should then only have been told that they must find something else.

– But there is nothing else!

The mother, Mayken Mangen, is also requesting more information from SAS. She has managed to get a ticket to Mallorca, but no return ticket.

She describes the guests as “ordinary wage earners”, several with children.

– Then not everyone can afford to post twice, so we try to help each other, she says.

Everyone does what they can to reach the wedding:

The bride’s heavily pregnant best friend gets on a bus with two small children on Friday morning. He who is to marry the couple is sitting on a train in the direction of Mallorca.

– Now we have tried and checked everything. I even went to Apollo’s headquarters and called neighbors who are air traffic controllers. Those who are safe with Norwegian tickets also work hard, she says with a laugh.

The price for one family, one way, is 34,000 kroner, she says.

– I can not ask my guests about it, and if SAS goes bankrupt, we will not receive a refund.

– How is the mood, can you be a little optimistic?

– This week I have started a new job and probably slept four hours every night. So I’m excited, but the courage is up and I hope it works out. I can only be disappointed if it does not work, because I can not bear to decide that it may not happen.

– What are you and your best friend going to do now?

– No, we can go and buy a burger.
