Referee expert, ex-FIFA referee Miroslav Stupar gave his assessment of the refereeing of Kateryna Monzul in yesterday’s match of the 16th round of the Ukrainian Championship between Dynamo Kiev and Ingulets from Petrovo (0:2).
“During the winter training, the referees actually had no refereeing practice – only theory and physical training. We listened to lectures, which clearly does not help in situations where you need to show concentration and understanding of the game. And on the first full-fledged football day after the resumption of the championship, we saw the consequences of this: we have poor work of referees in two matches at once.
In the third minute of the match “Dynamo” – “Ingulets” Kucherenko went on a tackle against Kabaev and played the ball, and Kabaev fell through the leg of the player “Ingulets”. Ekaterina, instead of continuing the game, recorded a violation of the rules. Six minutes later, Sitalo was knocked down on the edge of the field – from Monzul, zero reaction. Then, in the 36th minute, Vanat hit on goal, the goalkeeper rebounded, and she appointed a goal kick.
This chain of mistakes was supplemented by the first goal of Ingulets, when Sitalo broke the rules against Dyachuk. Yes, there was a struggle, but there is a shoulder-to-shoulder struggle, and this is not the case. In our case, there was a push with the shoulder in the back of the defender. The striker pushed Dyachuk away, got the advantage, gave the pass and Kozak scored.
There are also questions about the second goal. Sidorchuk passed back, and Kukharuk got the ball in his hand. After that, there was an interception and a swift effective counterattack by Ingulets. Ekaterina Monzul did not react again. Interestingly, she is often criticized for watching video replays, but today she did not fit the monitors. I only listened to the tips of the VAR referee Kovalenko. Although I had to see for myself. She might have made other decisions.
I do not think that this is some kind of biased attitude towards Dynamo. It’s just her level of refereeing,” Stupar said.
