Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Former leader of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Rizieq Shihab claims to never declare himself as High Priest Muslims. He even admitted that he was not worthy to become a High Priest with the shortcomings and mistakes he had so far.
He stated this in his duplicate to reply to the prosecutor’s statement in his replica which said that Rizieq’s high priest status was just a figment.
“That I have never called myself the High Priest, let alone declared myself the High Priest, because I know and realize very well how many shortcomings and mistakes I have, so I also think that I do not deserve to be called the High Priest,” said Rizieq. at the East Jakarta District Court, Thursday (17/6).
Rizieq considered the high priest status given to him as a sign of love from Muslims in various regions in Indonesia.
He stated that the prosecutor’s insult to the term “High Priest is just a figment” was not an insult to him by the public prosecutor. Thus, Rizieq claimed that he did not feel insulted or offended by the insult.
“The title of the Grand Imam for me comes from the naive and innocent and sincere Muslims in various regions in Indonesia,” he said.
Rizieq said he was worried that the public prosecutor’s insult to the status of the high priest would be interpreted by Indonesian Muslims as a challenge. This can be a driving force for the spirit of Muslims to come and attend and surround the East Jakarta District Court in the verdict of the Ummi Hospital on June 24, 2021.
“My advice to the prosecutor is to be careful. Don’t challenge the lovers, because love has tremendous power, which will never be afraid of challenges and threats,” he said.
Previously, the Public Prosecutor (JPU) mentioned that the status of the high priest attached to Rizieq was just a figment in his replica.
The prosecutor considered that there were many dictions that Rizieq should not have included in his plea if he wanted to refute the prosecutor’s demands. The use of such inappropriate nuances of words will only break the norm.
“There is no need to file a defense with words that violate the nation’s norms, with unhealthy words that promote emotion, let alone blaspheme,” said the prosecutor.
Rizieq himself has been sued for six years by the prosecutor in the case of spreading false news from the results of the Corona virus swab test at Ummi Hospital, Bogor, West Java.
