“I don’t call it a rebel.” Venediktova will raise cases against the associates of the “coal businessman”

The Prosecutor General promised to intensify 200 criminal proceedings, where the interests of Rinat Akhmetov, whose name the head of the OGPU did not directly name, are allegedly involved.

Prosecutor General Irina Venediktova announced the “intensification” of the investigation of more than 200 criminal proceedings that concern companies and individuals “from the orbit of an influential person” who owns “several TV channels.” About this she wrote on his Facebook on Thursday, December 2nd.

According to Venediktova, the Office of the Prosecutor General should not “sit back” during a public and political “storm”, so she “has the right to intensify the investigation” of criminal proceedings that concern companies and people from orbit “of the owner of several well-known TV channels, coal enterprises, enterprises in the field energy “. The Prosecutor General calls the purpose of these actions to check “the appropriateness of the decisions taken by prosecutors of different levels.” At the same time, she stressed that “she does not call anyone a rebel, oligarch or delinquent.”

The Office of the Prosecutor General came to the conclusion that it was about more than 200 criminal proceedings, but Venediktova expressed confidence that “there are more of them.”

“We mean almost all large enterprises in the coal industry and energy from the orbit of this influential person. The estimated amount of damage inflicted on the state is estimated in billions of hryvnias,” Venediktova wrote, adding that she will personally join the group of prosecutors for high-profile cases.

In her publication, the Prosecutor General did not specify which of the “influential people” associated, in particular, with the coal industry and the energy sector, she has in mind – probably, we are talking about the wealthiest businessman in Ukraine according to Forbes, the owner of SCM, Rinat Akhmetov. Its holding includes the energy company DTEK, as well as the mining and metallurgical enterprise Metinvest. In addition to this, the businessman belong to TV channels “Ukraine 24”, “Ukraine”, “Football 1/2/3” and others.

Focus sent a request to the Office of the Attorney General to find out what kind of businessman is referred to in Venediktova’s post.

We will remind, during the press marathon on November 26, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the country’s leadership received an audio recording of the conversation between “representatives of Russia and Ukraine.” on the coup d’état on December 1-2… The unknown, according to the head of state, discussed the participation of Rinat Akhmetov in the preparation of the seizure of power. Businessman in response said that these words are “a complete lie”.

We also wrote that MPs from the pro-presidential faction “Servant of the People” refused to come on the air of TV channels associated with Akhmetov… The politicians called these broadcasters “overtly propaganda”.
