Actress, poet and artist Marija Luize Meľke (25) has found herself in the crossfire of public opinion, because the National Cinema Awards Great Kristaps declined the award at the ceremony. Magazine And interviews the young artist about her brave step and asks how she feels now that the public spotlight is on the young woman. She says: “I speak for myself Kristapa the Great I did not experience courage at the ceremony. It just seemed logical to me, I wanted to act normally, honestly.”

“Being active in the process of community development does not mean just going to the elections. Politics is also what you do at home with your loved ones and what you do when you go out on the street – how you treat people. You also shape the country in which you live. My step with giving up Kristapa the Great — I do not consider it an activism or a political step, but a poetic one, I am an artist and I act symbolically. Of course, I am aware that it was also political, but the main thing I want is for art to have meaning in life. Let it affect life. My filming Neon in spring did not end with leaving the set,” says Meľke.

According to her, there is a problem in society: “to really let everyone feel their heart.” Don’t be afraid of feelings, pain, what you hope for. And don’t be afraid to feel the other person. It is so terribly missed. It is a big problem that we cannot accept ourselves as a person, as a value”.
