At the beginning of the week it was learned that Armando Benedetti will be the ambassador of Colombia in Venezuela until July 19. This was confirmed by the Colombian Foreign Ministry through a decree in which the date of June 23 was extended for a few more weeks.

“The Ministry of Foreign Relations informs that, after sending the request for approval for the appointment of Mr. Milton Rengifo Hernández as extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Colombia in the neighboring country, the Ministry of People’s Power for Foreign Relations of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela granted the same” highlighted the Foreign Ministry.

After this decision, which caused much criticism in different political sectors, Benedetti reappeared through his Twitter account. The official indicated that the reasons for keeping his jurisdiction are neither the position nor the salary, so he will deliver the position from Colombia.

“I will advance, from Colombian territory, the process of delivery and connection of the Embassy in Venezuela. I have informed the Chancellery of my resignation from the payment of any per diem concept. I want to be explicit: I do not keep the position because of the jurisdiction, nor because of the salary ”, the official stressed.

He also made reference to the High Courts in which he mentioned that he does not doubt his impartiality, but he was forceful against magistrate Lombana, rebuking her work. “I have never doubted the impartiality of the Court, except for Judge Lombana who has shown her personal interest in my proceedings,” Benedetti said.
