Jennifer Garner has surprised fans with her return to the iconic role of Elektra in the cameo-filled blockbuster Deadpool and Wolverine. After nearly two decades since her last appearance as the ninja assassin in Daredevil and its spin-off Elektra, Garner has undergone intense training to once again embody the scarlet ninja.
Recently, in an Instagram post, the actress shared details of her grueling preparation process. Garner acknowledged that: “Look, I was in shape, but not in Marvel-type shape,” referring to the demanding physical condition required to play a superhero in the MCU.
To achieve this goal, Jennifer teamed up again with her stunt double and trusted friend, Shauna Duggins. The two began a rigorous training regimen under the guidance of trainer Beth Nicely: “We had a superhero summer, spinning sais [un arma tipo tridente que usa Elektra] in the garden and laughing at our aching bodies.”
This dedication shown by Garner was not only to try to regain her physique, but also to pay tribute to the character and give her a proper ending that both she and the fans deserved:

Meanwhile, Ryan Reynolds has also taken to Instagram to praise Garner for her role in the film. Reynolds has uploaded a compilation of photos with Garner in the film and on the set, adding an emotional message in the caption:
“She brings a completely different scope of skills to every movie, but she can’t hide a detail… No matter how talented she is, you can’t hide her humanity. She’s not just one of my favorite artists, she’s one of my favorite people. I love her and will now and always, I owe her one. Or five,” the actor wrote.
The result of Garner’s efforts has been reflected in the successful Deadpool and Wolverine, where fans have been able to enjoy a renewed Elektra in top form, giving her the closure she so deserves.
