TV MAGAZINE. – Last year, you were one of the artists competing in “Eurovision France, it’s up to you!”. What does it mean to you to return this year as a guest?
Barbara PRAVI. – I am glad. I had been offered to be on the jury and I didn’t want to because I didn’t feel at all legitimate to judge. First, among the artists in the running, there are many that I know. I was exactly in the same place as them the year behind and I don’t feel like telling them at all if I find what they are doing good or not. I would be uncomfortable when I have the same level as all these people. So, I’m very happy to come, to sing my song and to applaud all the people who will be there and who will be so stressed, I imagine, to participate in this contest.
What advice would you give to artists before they perform?
The only valid advice for any artist, whether participating in a program or not, is to be as close as possible to yourself. I think that’s the most important.
Isn’t that also the hardest part?
Obviously. But being an artist is that. It is to seek each time to strip oneself to be as true as possible. When people have the opportunity to listen to music that is sincere, they feel it. Whatever kind of music. For example, Maneskin, the group that won Eurovision last year, is hard-rock but it was so sincere that it marked.
What have you learned from your Eurovision experience?
That you have to stay straight in your boots, that is to say, you have to trust yourself and know why you are doing things.
Here is was a nice introduction to your album We don’t lock up the birdsnon?
Yes totally. It was a first public presentation, on a large scale. With this album, I wanted everything that happens today: I’m on tour, I sing my songs on stage, I meet the public. When I did Eurovision, I already knew what this record was going to look like, half the songs were ready.
You received the Female Revelation Victory at the last ceremony. What does this represent for you?
It was super important. This Victory is a bit special because you can only have it once in your life. What is magnificent is that with Eurovision, I had the recognition of the public, which is the most important. This Victory is the recognition of peers. It was very important for me, it confirmed that I worked well this year. And all those before! It’s the conclusion of seven years of work and not just one year.

Currently, you are on tour in France and Europe….
Yes, and I will be at the Olympia on December 5 in particular. I think we will continue this tour for another six months, so in all I would have done almost two years. On stage, it’s really a show that I offer. It’s not a concert at all, in the sense that one song follows another. Here I am telling a story. It’s like a little tale, it’s hyper poetic and at the same time very joyful. There’s a lot of emotion too, I think. It’s very sincere. I really enjoy myself and I see that the public is happy.
