“With certainty the nominal envelope will be enough to include a 15% increase in pensions for everyone”, he added and specified that next week there will be a coalition decision, then an announcement by the leaders of the three government parties.
“Let’s make it clear. Together with the Minister of Finance and the Prime Minister, and last night I had a rather long discussion with the Prime Minister, as is normal, on the construction of the budget for next year. We have a rubber for a 15% increase. I repeat, I cannot agree that right now it should be increased for everyone by 15%. The pension point will certainly increase for everyone. I don’t know if it will be 6, it will be 12. The fact is that we have to stop certain sums to be directed to disadvantaged categories, because this is not only Christian, this is done in any economy. This is what people expect from state intervention,” said Marcel Ciolacu, when asked Thursday in a press conference in Mehedinţi, if the PSD would accept a variant that PNL leader Nicolae Ciucă would have proposed to the liberals at the BPN meeting on Wednesday, according to some political sources, namely that pensions will have to had been increased by 6%.
The PSD president added that there will be talks in the coalition next week and, after a decision on the increase in pensions, an announcement will be made by the leaders of the coalition. Ciolacu added that “the nominal rubber will be enough to predict a 15% increase for everyone in retirement”.
“More than likely, next week, together with Mr. Prime Minister and Mr. President Kelemen Hunor, we will come and announce exactly how it will happen. These are working scenarios. Forgive me, I cannot agree to increase the pension by 1,200 lei with a special pension than 20,000 lei. I can’t agree that one should take 180 lei and someone else should take 2,000 lei right now. It’s totally wrong. PNL spokesman Ionuţ Stroe announced that the liberals have decided in the National Political Bureau to enter a coalition with two options regarding the increase in pensions. The first would be “an increase in the budget allocated to pensions, following which gradually, at certain pension thresholds, the increase in pensions will take place, through some additional benefits”, and the second aims at a universal increase in all pensions of 15%. The two proposals will be discussed at a coalition meeting most likely next week, Stroe added.
