The new measures announced by the president of the Xunta, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, to contain the advance of the coronavirus in Galicia, they have entered into force this Wednesday with slight variations compared to the previous rule. The municipalities are still closed, but cultural activities are allowed in cinemas and theaters, and commerce returns to its normal hours.

Sport and trade

Although the data have improved since the entry into force of the measures decreed for the maximum risk level in Galicia, Feijóo has decided “Continue alert” and ask for “prudence” citizens without allowing large changes, but small variations in the norm.

The Galician federated sport may be run again both in competitions as in training. The opening of the hospitality industry is allowed in logistics centers or in the service areas of the State Highway Network in Galicia, high capacity roads and the basic primary network of Galician roads in order to serve transport professionals, including within the premises. Establishments and commercial premises may restore your regular schedule, without the obligation to close at 6 pm as stipulated, with shopping centers and parks being closed during weekends and holidays.

Residences and universities

In the cultural sphere, libraries, archives, museums and exhibition halls, monuments and other public and private cultural facilities may return to face-to-face activities without exceeding 30% of the maximum capacity allowed. The organizers of the events must keep a registry of people with their contact telephone numbers to make it available to the health authorities in case of an outbreak. In addition, attendees will have to remain seated, keep a distance of 1.5 meters (unless you are living together) and wear a mask at all times.

The city councils will maintain the perimeter closure, while the hotel industry and meetings with people who do not live together, two of the most controversial measures, will be subject to review next Monday 22.
