Benfica today beat Gil Vicente, by 1-0, in a game of the third round of the I Portuguese Football League, remaining 100% victorious this season.
Defenders Lucas Veríssimo (84 minutes) and Grimaldo (88) scored the goals of the match, giving the third victory in the championship to the ‘incarnados’, who add three more victories in the preliminary stages of the Champions League.
Benfica temporarily isolated themselves in the lead of the I Liga, with nine points, three more than Gil Vicente, who suffered their first defeat, and champion Sporting and FC Porto, who have one game less.
