THE STARTING BIBS OF THE DESCENT OF ST. MORITZ
SOFIA GOGGIA INJURED: WHAT HAPPENED
LIVE LIVE OF THE VAL GARDENA SUPERG FROM 11.45
11.23 The American Isabella Wright is 0.97 behind the second intermediate.
11.20 Mikaela Shiffrin sixth at 1.23, went really fast from the middle of the track down. These are very heavy points for the general World Cup: she no longer wins as before, but none of her has the versatility of hers and for this reason she remains the n.1 favorite for the absolute crystal ball.
11.19 Shiffrin is skiing on the defensive. He pays 1.03 per partial second.
11.18 Federica Brignone skied well. She closes sixth at 1.27, she is happy. You found really difficult conditions between snow and fog. Now pay attention to Mikaela Shiffrin.
11.17 Only 0.05 delay in the first intermediate, but 0.85 per second. He found a bank of fog, bad luck.
11.17 Nufer is 15th at 2.35. Now Federica Brignone.
11.16 The fog is thicker in the central part. We remind you that, to consider the race valid, the first 30 must get off. And now we are at bib number 20.
11.15 Scheyer is 16th at 2.75. Now the Swiss Priska Nufer, then Federica Brignone.
11.14 Sofia Goggia explained that she had hit the post at the third goal. Her left hand is already completely bandaged.
11.13 Ilka Stuhec ninth at 1.47. Now the Austrian Christine Scheyer.
11.13 0.72 late for the Slovenian in the second intermediate and 1.30 in the third.
11.11 Good race, but not from the podium for Lara Gut-Behrami. The Swiss is sixth at 1.31, tied with Mowinckel. Attention now to the Slovenian Ilka Stuhec, who won the World Cup here in 2017.
11.11 Lara Gut-Behrami pays 97 cents to the third intermediate.
11.10 The Canadian Marie-Michele Gagnon is 13th at 2.35. The feeling is that no one can beat the blues anymore. But now pay attention to the Swiss Lara Gut-Behrami.
11.07 The first 15 have come down. Elena Curtoni is in command with 0.29 on Sofia Goggia and 0.73 on Corinne Suter. However, there is great concern for the conditions of Sofia Goggia: the blue has slammed her left hand against a post. Upon arrival, she told the technicians verbatim: “I broke my hand“. Let’s hope it was hyperbole, from the heart…
11.06 Nadia Delago continues to struggle at the start of the season. The reigning Olympic bronze does not go beyond 14th place at 3.50.
11.04 No one is able to bring the blue ones closer. Elena Curtoni took advantage of the lower bib, Goggia was by far the best of those games with the bib from 5 onwards. Swiss Joana Haehlen is ninth at 1.78. Now let’s see Nadia Delago.
11.02 Abysmal detachments, this says a lot about Sofia Goggia’s exceptional performance. German Kira Weidle is eleventh at 2.16.
11.01 The Austrian Ramona Siebenhofer is 11th at 2.76. Very high times now. We can’t be completely happy for the Azzurri because we are concerned about Sofia Goggia’s condition.
10.59 The Austrian Cornelia Huetter is seventh at 1.37. By now it will be very hard to beat Elena Curtoni. Sofia Goggia performed a half miracle, because the track became much slower due to the snowfall, and there is also fog in the central section. The Valtellinese was lucky with bib number 2. However, there is anxiety for Sofia Goggia, who said at the finish line “I broke my hand” after impact with a pole. Let’s hope he just wanted to exaggerate.
10.57 NOOOOO!! Sofia Goggia hit her left hand against a post. Upon arrival, she immediately told the technicians: “I broke my hand“. Let’s really hope it’s not like that… We don’t want to believe it!
10.56 SECOND! Sofia Goggia closes at 29 cents from Elena Curtoni. More than that she could not do, very good. You skied well.
10.55 At the first intermediate stage Sofia Goggia is already 25 cents behind.
10.54 Elena Curtoni is smiling upon arrival. You know you put a mortgage on the podium. But deep down she hopes to win… she We start again, Sofia Goggia on the track!
10.53 The track attendant is still on the ground, unable to get up. The knee problem is serious.
10.51 Sofia Goggia is nervous about the snow that is falling. Giovanni Feltrin is trying to reassure her. But objectively she is in bad shape.
10.50 The track attendant seems to have hurt his knee. Truly unheard of bad luck for Sofia Goggia, but she must remain calm.
10.48 AM CRAZY! Fall of a track employee, race interrupted just before the departure of Sofia Goggia. She really didn’t want us, it’s a cancellation! With all this snow that will settle on the slope…
10.47 Nothing to do for Mowinckel either. The Norwegian is fifth at 1.31. It’s up to Sofia Goggia, she will have to overcome herself because she finds conditions much worse than when she got off Elena Curtoni.
10.46 Johnson is fourth at 96 cents. It will be difficult for everyone to beat Elena Curtoni, even for Sofia Goggia. Now the Norwegian Ragnhild Mowinckel.
10.45 In fact, the American also pays 0.49 from the blue to the second intermediate and 0.88 to the third.
10.45 Johnson ahead of 0.12 in the first intermediate, but it is from then on that Elena Curtoni made the difference.
10.44 BEHIND! Corinne Suter is second at 73 cents from Elena Curtoni, who is now starting to dream big… Now the American Breezy Johnson.
10.43 Even Suter clearly behind! Accuse 0.56 per second detection!
10.43 Immediately 0.16 advantage for Suter in the first set.
10.42 Puchner is fourth at 1.82. Always in command Elena Curtoni with 0.84 on Flury. The Valtellinese started with bib number 2: in retrospect it could have been a good stroke of luck. But now we see Corinne Suter, the reigning Olympic and world champion.
10.41 Only 3 cents late for Puchner in the first intermediate, but 1.15 per second.
10.40 Ortlieb never in the race today. The Austrian closes third at 1.56. Be careful because a bit of fog has descended in the central section…Now from n.6 to n.15 we will have the best ones (on paper). It starts with the Austrian Mirjam Puchner.
10.39 Share the car with Nina Ortlieb.
10.38 The very dangerous Austrian Nina Ortlieb will be next to leave. The more time passes, the better it is for Elena Curtoni: the snowfall is plentiful… The slope could become slower.
10.36 Miradoli loses a ski in a curve to the right and slips. French out. Race interrupted, but will start again soon.
10.35 Far away Michelle Gisin, closes at 1.83 from Elena Curtoni. The blue certainly skied well, the slope suits her. Now the French Romane Miradoli.
10.34 Gisin pays 1.88 in the third intermediate.
10.33 Well done Elena Curtoni, she takes the lead with a good 84 cents ahead of Flury: will it be enough for the podium? The snow could also give her a hand…Now the Swiss Michelle Gisin.
10.32 Well Curtoni, 0.43 ahead at the second survey.
10.32 Elena Curtoni pays 17 cents to the first intermediate, the one where smoothness is needed.
10.31 1’10 “24 the time of Flury, who risked falling after losing balance on the final jump. Now immediately Elena Curtoni. It really snows a lot.
10.30 The descent of St. Moritz has begun, it is snowing. On the Flury track.
10.28 The first to start will be the Swiss Jasmine Flury.
10.27 Meanwhile in St. Moritz it has started to snow again… The weather conditions are difficult.
10.25 Mikaela Shiffrin is in the race today: she will start with bib number 22. Petra Vlhova, on the other hand, will not be there, despite the fact that she has competed in the tests of the past few days.
10.23 The general classification of the World Cup sees Mikaela Shiffrin in the lead with 385 points, followed by Wendy Holdener at 366 and Petra Vlhova at 340. Sofia Goggia is fifth at 245.
10.21 That of St. Moritz is a particularly welcome track for Federica Brignone. Here she won last year in super-G and came second in 2019.
10.15 In St. Moritz in recent years in the World Cup they have only competed in super-G, giant and combined. However, the precedent of the 2017 World Cup is downhill, when Sofia Goggia finished fourth behind Ilka Stuhec, Stephanie Venier and her friend Lindsey Vonn.
10.12 Sofia Goggia won in super-G in St. Moritz in 2019. In the same specialty she was also second last year.
10.08 The starting bibs of the Italians: 2 Elena Curtoni, 10 Sofia Goggia, 15 Nadia Delago, 21 Federica Brignone, 24 Laura Pirovano, 30 Nicol Delago, 49 Karoline Pichler.
