Olivier Giroud signed for Milan this summer and has been given sparse playing time with Zlatan Ibrahimovic on the plane. Milan coach Stefano Pioli has chosen to play the strikers alone at the front for much of the autumn. Giroud now says that the collaboration with the Swede was something that was discussed before he signed for the Italian big club.
– When I signed, Pioli asked me about Ibra and how he saw that we would coexist, Giroud says to French L’Equipe and continues:
– I replied that if I could not play with him, I would not go there (Milan). Ibra never scared me. It is also a chance to develop by his side, to continue to learn from someone with such quality.
Giroud believes that Ibrahimović has an incredible personality. The Frenchman also talks about the first conversation he had with Ibrahimović after he signed for Milan.
– His charisma, his presence in the locker room and his leadership on the pitch are above all else. When I signed on, he said I was a good “rookie”, but that he was the only king in Milan.
Giroud did not get any playing time on Sunday night in Milanoderbyt, Ibrahimović, however, was allowed to play the entire match.
