During that difficult period, a friend of Cafmeyer forwarded her the poem “Snowdrops” by Louise Glück, the woman who won the Nobel Prize in Literature last year. “I’m so glad she did that, everything fell into place then,” she says from Wim Helsen’s seat. “I was desperate and sad and suddenly the thought came into my mind that it would be all right, that I could create new life out of the darkness.”
