King Charles is said to have a bloody relationship with the bloodthirsty Romanian ruler Vlad the Impaler, who inspired Bram Stoker to write the story of the vampire Dracula, writes BGNES.
The revelation came from actor Luke Evans, who met the royal after finishing work on the 2014 film “Dracula Untold”. The actor recently revealed that Charles had told him to trace his ancestry back to the bloodthirsty Romanian ruler. Vlad the Emperor, aka Vlad III, Vlad the Impaler, and Vlad Dracula – who are said to have inspired Bram Stoker’s fictional vampire.
Speaking on the Jonathan Ross Show, Luke explained how this strange conversation came about, saying, “I remember the first time I spoke to Charles. I was very nervous. He walked over and asked me, ‘What are you working on ??”, and I said, “I just finished a movie about the Romanian ruler Vlad the Impaler who becomes Dracula. And he said,” Funny, but I’m a relative of Vlad the Impaler. “
“I thought he was joking, but he shared how he found out about his blood connection with Vlad.”
In “Dracula Untold”, Luke plays the 15th-century Romanian ruler Vlad III, with Dracula as his monstrous alter-ego.
The real Vlad ruled the Wallachian region in present-day Romania and is believed to be a fearsome ruler who killed thousands of people and executed many of his enemies using impalement, which earned him his terrifying nickname.
Bram Stoker’s book Dracula was published in 1897 and many believe he used Vlad’s mythology to create his most famous character.
King Charles III is believed to be a distant great-grandson of Dracula, across the line of King George V’s wife, Queen Mary. Upon discovering this historical link, Charles visited the region many times, bought property in Transylvania and also did charities there through his Prince of Wales Foundation.
