– I am proud and happy – NRK Culture and entertainment

– It’s okay. This has been beyond all expectation and I am so proud and happy. The most important thing for me is to show others that they must dry and inspire others, said Carina Dahl during the broadcast when it became known that she did not reach the final in Star Wars 2021.

– I have been able to take part in the whole journey I wanted and have been shown in many genres, Dahl told NRK right after the broadcast.

– You struggled with your voice for a while, how does it feel to still make it all the way to the semifinals?

– I now feel on my stomach that I am still tired in my voice. I have a hoarse voice with a slightly crooked vocal cords, so it erodes. But now I can rest my voice and relax a little.

The three semi-finalists started the evening with a joint opening number, before embarking on the evening’s challenges – big band and musical with the broadcast orchestra in the back.

Soul and big bandman Odd René Andersen and musical artist, actress and comedian Henriette Steenstrup were this week’s coaches and co-judges. In addition to permanent judge Mona B. Riise.

– It went well as it had to go in the semifinals. Carina was always a bit behind Alexandra and Bjørn, but has really had a fantastic development in this autumn’s Star Match. She really deserves credit. I also think it’s extra good to see the rather atypical participant Bjørn Tomren in the final – if he wins, I will be really happy on behalf of the concept, said NRK’s reviewer Espen Borge after the broadcast.

Sinatra + Sinatra + Sinatra =?

The first person in the fire was Bjørn Tomren with Frank Sinatra’s classic «You Make Me Feel So Young».

– Incredibly delicious and precise. Dritbra! Had you put it down a bit ?, expert judge Andersen said to the man with the dark voice.

– Oh my God, so nice to listen to, said Mona B. Riise.

Carina Dahl also chose Sinatra. This time «I Get a Kick Out of You». That is, the song was written by ring fox Cole Porter, but Francis Albert Sinatra (as he is actually called)’s version is one of the most famous.

She received warm words for her performance.

And then it was Alexandra Rotan’s (big city) trip with the tourist whisper «New York, New York». The original version was performed by Liza Minelli in 1977, but Sinatra’s version is probably the best known. Although Rotan claims to perform the version that Lady Gaga did in 2015.

– Frank had been proud of you, Steenstrup said as part of a very enthusiastic panel of judges.

Musical-la-land

“Breakfast at Tiffany’s” is the name of the well-known film in which the song “Moon River” became famous, among other things. Today it was Bjørn Tomren who was to sing it – and make Mona B. Riise very touched:

– You sing it now naturally. It touches me very much, said a tearful judge.

– It is something completely unique with your voice. I want your voice for Christmas, Steenstrup said.

Carina Dahl had also chosen a song from a movie; “The Greatest Showman”.

Her performance of “This Is Me”, which in the film was sung by a lady with a beard, made Henriette Steenstrup very excited:

– I love you !, she said who had helped coach her.

– I believe in you. You sing with your emotions, Andersen said.

And, yes, I realize I’m the billionth person to make that joke. And yes, once again we were going to the same movie as in the previous issue: “The Greatest Showman”.

“Never Enough” was the name of the song Alexandra Rotan had chosen. A song with, to put it mildly, great emotions.

– You tell us a story. And it looks so simple, said Andersen who struggled to hold back his tears.

– In all my years as a star match referee, I have never seen such a young artist who is so good in all genres, said Mona B. Riise.
