The congressman of the Popular Renovation bench, Jorge Montoya, remarked that he will not renounce his claims to reach the Board of Directors. That is why he did not hesitate to emphasize that he is going to continue and that they have a chance of reaching the goal.
“I am not going to withdraw it (the candidacy), we are going to continue and I am sure that we can have a chance of occupying the position of the Presidency”, he stated.
In this sense, Jorge Montoya indicated that he is safe because he has the support of his bench and with the blessing of Rafael López Aliaga. He also outlined that many agreements already established were broken for “other intentions.”
“Let’s put things in context, I started with this 2 months ago when they asked me if I had any pretensions to enter Parliament on the Board of Directors, and I said that I did have intentions. (…) But it turns out that words do not exist in politics, intentions are measured differently (…) Our bench is united and solid, the entire bench supports me, the party president supports me », he asserted in an interview for the program “Political Agenda.”
In turn, he did not hesitate to attack his partner Norma Yarrow, for her statements on Twitter, stating that he is “the party’s spokesman” and is “the only voice authorized to say what the party is going to do.”

On the other hand, Admiral Jorge Montoya argued that if one speaks of representativeness, his party, Popular Renovation, has more electoral representation than other parties. “Even more than many of them put together,” he stressed.
Finally, the current parliamentarian justified that he is not weakening any right-wing position, since he arrived earlier. And he assured that “there are no guarantees of governability with the fickleness of Popular Action.
