Psychiatrist and writer Jan Cimický rejected the claims of the singer and actress Jana Fabiánová, who stated on the social network on Thursday that she had been sexually assaulted by a doctor in the past. According to Cimický, such accusations are difficult to defend against, but he is not aware of any professional or personal failure.
“I unequivocally reject any accusation against me on the social network. I knew the woman who accused me, she was treated by me, and of course I cannot provide any further information,” Cimický told ČTK. According to Hospodářské noviny (HN), however, he was also accused of sexual assault by other women.
“It is difficult to defend such accusations, but I am not aware of any professional or personal failure. This is not true. I consider the situation a regrettable attempt to be visible at the moment when the President of the Republic decided to appreciate my life’s work,” the psychiatrist added.
According to HN, Fabiánová published a contribution on the social network in response to information that Cimický will receive an award from President Miloš Zeman for services to the state in the field of culture. “A sexual predator who has been hiding behind a medical degree for decades should not receive an award for merit in our country,” said Fabiánová, among others. She later deleted the post.
According to HN, Fabiánová also spoke about the fact that she was sexually assaulted by a psychiatrist, whom she went to seek help after a divorce, on the Czech Television program of the 13th Chamber. “At the second session, the psychiatrist sexually assaulted me in the office. He also used violence. He held me by the top of his head and tried to kiss me. I broke away from him and ran away,” the actress said, among other things. She did not name the man then.
Cimický worked for many years in the Psychiatric Hospital in Bohnice, from 1981 to 1996 he was the head of the sociotherapy and rehabilitation department there. In 1996, he opened the Blue Lagoon Mental Health Center, where he still works today.
