Former Feyenoord trainer Geert Meijer is curious about where Feyenoord is located in the Netherlands. On December 19, leader Ajax will visit De Kuip. Meijer has full confidence in a good outcome.
Meijer, now seventy, was at the helm of Feyenoord for ten years. He sees that the club has taken a different path with Arne Slot. The choice for Slot works out well for Feyenoord. “Slot has already shown at AZ that he wants to play football like this,” he says in The Telegraph.
“I think when he arrived he immediately talked to the group about how he wants it. Part of this group already wanted to put more pressure last year and fix things in the half of the opponent, so those guys will be very happy have attended,” Meijer says.
Feyenoord is one of the title candidates, although that is not shouted out loud in Rotterdam. Can the club also play against Ajax as offensively as before? “I am not afraid that Feyenoord will go down badly.”
“We will only really know on December 19, when Ajax comes to De Kuip. With Bijlow there is also a keeper who does not concede many goals. You see it with Joël Drommel, he makes a mistake and the ball is already in the net .”
